What is the Chilton Food Innovation Center?

The Chilton Food Innovation Center is a nonprofit food-processing facility for small fruit and vegetable producers and small food businesses. Our facilities are FDA- and ADPH-approved and working in cooperation with the Alabama Cooperative Extension System and the Alabama Agricultural Experiment Station.


What the Chilton Food Innovation Center Does:

We help small fruit and vegetable producers and small food businesses utilize their fruits and vegetables to make jams, sauces, pickles, and chutneys. We provide the following equipment at our facility:

  • Three 40 gallon Steam Jacketed Kettles
  • Two Convection Ovens
  • Steamer
  • Mixers, Slicers, Choppers, and Food Processors
  • Fruit-washing Equipment
  • Peach Pitter
  • Lye Peeler
  • Dry Storage Room
  • Coolers
  • Two Semi-Automatic Bottle Labelers
  • Two Single Piston Depositor/Aleks, Each with 10-Foot Equipped Conveyors

Our facility is open by appointment and is located at 13 First Avenue in Clanton, AL 35045.

Using the Chilton Food Innovation Center:

When using our facility you will:

  • Complete an application
  • Receive startup coaching, and complete processing requirements
  • Receive training
  • Schedule processing
  • Bring ingredients and packaging
  • Process, package, and return to your facility with your product ready to sell
